DC BLOX is entering a new chapter of growth enabling mid-market and edge multi-tenant data center solutions. The Company builds new, Tier III-designed, state-of-the-art data centers fully connected by a high-speed, low-latency private network throughout emerging markets across the Southeast. DC BLOX continues to stand out as a unique pure-play data center operator focused on underserved growing cities to include scaling its robust infrastructure to offer local communities a next generation of digital commerce.

This position is responsible for a subset of design decisions related to data center projects which can include: new construction, phased expansion, retrofits and upgrades, acquisition conversions, mechanical and electrical equipment selections and Design standards upgrades. This person is preferably a high performing Electrical Engineer but may also be a mechanical or controls engineer or Architect with demonstrated capability to think and make decisions across disciplines. The Design Manager critically assesses design decisions under direction from more senior staff and supports such staff in applying the required DC Blox standards and to make design choices that align with current business drivers and marker opportunities. They assist in the management of the relationship and output of key design partners and equipment suppliers for their assigned tasks and critically assess and escalate issues where the relationship with such partners is not meeting expectations.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage project design development for the entire lifecycle of the project from conceptual design to closeout.
  • Coordinate design deliverable timelines to ensure alignment with overall project schedule and provide feedback on potential risks to project.
  • Coordinate internal alignment on project document reviews, cost optimization exercises, design contract issuances and design modifications.
  • Ensure all stakeholders buy off on project decisions while communicating deadlines and schedule.
  • Initiate and facilitate kickoff meetings with MEP/AE firm(s) to introduce project team, review design intent/basis of design, etc. and discuss or clarify project deliverables and expectations.
  • Facilitate page-turn design document reviews and assemble comments with action items for internal stakeholders and direct contracted design partners.
  • Lead Weekly PM Sync with MEP/AE Team Project Leads, to discuss and support process, schedule, changes.
  • Coordinate regularly with engineering and cross-functional teams to resolve project roadblocks.
  • Maintain DC BLOX documentation, such as Design Engineering Guidelines & specifications and other standards to make available to all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Supports senior staff to obtain and define site specific conditions, utility and infrastructure design, costs and availability of utilities, liaison with planning authorities and local logistics including site logistics during construction and phasing.
  • Works hand-in-hand with construction managers, GCs and subs to deliver/support projects during construction once the design phase is completed and ensure projects are fully documented and closed out.
  • Review RFI responses during Construction process.
  • Maintain vendor/partner/supplier relationships for OFCI equipment purchases.
  • Oversee OFCI equipment release, delivery, deficiencies, startup and commissioning.
  • Partner with DC BLOX vendors and Data Center Operations to ensure successful completion of their scope (i.e. Signage, Furniture, Security and Controls).
  • Provide project commissioning support by onboarding the Commissioning Agent, facilitating script approvals and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.

Key Qualifying Criteria

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design or Electrical Commissioning experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Project Management or Construction related field.
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience in the Data Center construction or design industry.
  • Experience with engineering drawings and records management practices and procedures.
  • Experience with engineering disciplines such as architecture, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls/BMS, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Project Management software.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, problem solving, initiative and team player.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Engineering, Construction or Architecture consulting firm.
  • EIT and/or PE desirable but not essential.
  • PMP Certification desirable but not essential.

This position is responsible for supporting the Accounting and Finance activities for DC BLOX, including the annual budget, strategic planning, the monthly close & forecast process along with ad-hoc financial analysis.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the forecasting and annual budgeting process.
  • Design, build and maintain budget and long-range forecast models.
  • Coordinate and document processes for internal financial reporting systems.
  • Drive more meaningful reporting tools to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare financial presentations in Excel and PowerPoint.

This position is responsible for supporting the pricing activities at DC BLOX.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all pricing proposals, including setting all market and product prices, discounts and special promotions. This includes collaborating with sales and finance resources, modeling and refining the assumptions and desired pricing, supporting the recommendations through executive approvals, and tracking the success of the proposals.
  • Fully develop models to assess the financial impact and profitability of retail and strategic pricing proposals.
  • Develop reports and perform analysis on budgets and phase/task data to monitor the firm’s pricing performance on AFSs. Provide guidance on strategies to improve pricing results.
  • Effectively provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support operational, financial and strategic business inquiries.
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes.
  • Create C-level presentations and summaries to communicate recommendations and risks.
  • Reduce complexity in models and processes to support efficient and streamlined yet accurate pricing responsiveness to internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the development of financial and competitive pricing strategies with innovative options for firm and client benefit.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional work teams and meet tight deadlines, as well as interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Broad analytical skills set, including ability to work with mathematical concepts and the ability to interpret a variety of financial data. Strong technical skills, including a high level of proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication, presentation and collaborative skills.
  • Requires 5 years of pricing & finance experience.

This position is responsible, with the assistance of the Finance Team, for recording all business transactions of the organization. The Staff Accountant will assist the Finance Team in the preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements.

Duties

  • Preparing and processing of general ledger transactions and journal entries
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
  • Review, reconcile and process vendor invoices according to company procedures
  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue customer invoices, and account statements according to company procedures
  • Assist in completing the monthly close process
  • Assist with year-end annual audits
  • Assist with periodic sales, property and other tax filings
  • Various ad hoc financial analysis and performing special projects as requested

Summary

DC BLOX seeks an energetic, motivated individual with suitable technology, sales, and solutions architecture experience to scale its growing ecosystem.

Relying upon past experience, critical thinking and vivid imagination, via listening, learning, designing and specification of a solution, the DC BLOX Solutions Architecture team provides a pre- and post-sales role that specifies applicable, scalable, practical, and reliable data center solutions which enable the digital acceleration of its varied customer base. Responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibility of this role focuses on investigating and understanding the potentially obfuscated or unclear digital/IT goals of potential customers so as to develop and present custom data center solutions to service them. The candidate must be easily and readily able to communicate with executives, technologists, sales executives, consultants, partners and any applicable other parties to build relationships and trust, then ultimately offer, deliver and ensure correct fulfillment of an appropriate solution.

This role relies upon a strong understanding of customer psychological behavior, deep knowledge of the innerworkings and inter-dependencies of the discrete technologies that are part of the solutions building blocks, deep understanding of legacy and contemporary broader IT/system operations and goals, and adaptive communications skills to present each of these aspects to the appropriate audience. Imagination, creativity and pedantic analysis are equivalently critical in the processes of this role.

Qualifications / Preferences

  • Formal education in computer science, software development, IT/network operations, or related discipline with a suitable degree(s) granted (e.g. BS/BA/MS, etc)
    • Industry certifications or training a plus, but not required, nor solely sufficient
  • At least 8 years of experience in described areas, collaborating, and succeeding with sales, engineering, and operations teams
  • Imagination, communication, critical thinking, and strong presentations skills are more important than a lengthy list of technology acronyms
